Dunfermline City or Queen Margaret: arrange the right taxi pickup

Choose the correct Dunfermline station, agree the entrance and plan luggage, train delays and your onward taxi journey with the local Ash Cabs team.

A LITTLE KNOW-HOW BEFORE YOU GO

Start with the station name on your ticket

Dunfermline City and Dunfermline Queen Margaret are separate stations. A request for ‘Dunfermline station’ leaves room for confusion, especially if someone else is arranging the taxi. Check the station printed in your journey planner and give the full name when booking. If an older message says Dunfermline Town, check that the intended stop is Dunfermline City rather than guessing.

Agree the entrance as well as the map pin

Select the correct station in our journey planner, then confirm an accessible meeting point with the team. A pin is a location reference, not permission for a driver to stop on a restricted road or enter a pedestrian area. Tell us which exit you will use and describe a nearby visible landmark if that helps. Stay in a safe place while you arrange the collection.

Separate train arrival from taxi pickup

The train’s arrival time is not necessarily the moment you will reach the road. Allow for leaving the platform, walking to the agreed exit and handling luggage. If you are changing from a coach or collecting at Halbeath, use the Park & Ride guide and specify that location instead of a railway station. Do not assume all transport connections share one pickup point.

Send an itinerary the driver can recognise

For example: ‘Dunfermline City, two passengers with two suitcases, onward to Duloch; please confirm the meeting point.’ Add your travel date and preferred collection time privately in the booking request. Include practical assistance or larger luggage needs before choosing a vehicle. A train ticket or station name alone does not tell the team how much space the journey needs.

Keep the plan current if your train changes

Call with your booking reference when a delay, cancellation or changed station affects your plans. Ask the team to reconfirm the collection time and any waiting arrangements. An updated rail timetable does not automatically update your taxi request. For a sooner pickup than the planner allows, call 01383 333333 to ask about availability; a vehicle is not guaranteed.

Check official station information before travelling

Use National Rail’s Dunfermline City information and your rail operator’s current journey planner for station facilities and service changes. Use our station transfer page for the taxi part of the connection. The rail and taxi arrangements should each be checked.

PRACTICAL JOURNEY QUESTIONS

Before you travel.

Can I just write Dunfermline station in the booking?

Please use Dunfermline City or Dunfermline Queen Margaret and agree the entrance. Naming the exact station prevents a collection being planned for the wrong location.

Will a train delay automatically move my taxi booking?

No. Contact Ash Cabs with your reference and revised arrival information. The team must agree the changed pickup, availability and any waiting arrangements.
