Collecting a friend before the airport, dropping colleagues at different addresses or allowing time for a short errand can change the journey. Add these stops before requesting your taxi so the team can see the complete plan. A separate stop is more useful than a vague note asking the driver to go somewhere on the way.
Build the trip in the order you need
- Choose your starting point and final destination.
- Add each intermediate location in the order passengers will visit it.
- Mark the stop as a pickup, drop-off or wait/errand.
- Enter the expected time at each stop and check the passenger and luggage needs for the whole trip.
The planner's initial suggestions are three minutes for a pickup or drop-off and ten minutes for a wait or errand. They are editable planning defaults, not free waiting allowances. Replace them with your best estimate: collecting someone who is ready outside differs from waiting while an appointment takes place.
What the estimate means
Where routing is available, the route follows every submitted stop in its listed order. Travel time and your planned stop minutes help describe the itinerary. Where a road route is available, the planner can show a fare range. The estimate uses the complete road distance, then adds the configured vehicle and intermediate-stop allowances. The current six- and eight-seat rules are shown below and in the planner, including which stops qualify for an allowance. Staff confirm the final price. Waiting time, parking and tolls remain separate: entering ten minutes does not make those minutes free or establish a waiting charge.
The default limits allow up to five intermediate stops, zero to 120 minutes at each and no more than 240 stop minutes in total. The operator may change the planning settings. For a longer or uncertain itinerary, speak to the team.
Before the journey is confirmed
Check that everyone can travel in the selected vehicle and that each address is in Scotland. A missing road route, uncertain timing or a journey crossing a tariff or holiday boundary may need a staff quote. If the itinerary changes afterwards, contact Ash Cabs so the route, availability and charges can be reviewed again.
Before you travel.
How do I check the route before requesting travel?
Confirm pickup first, add intermediate stops in travel order, then select the final destination. Check the road-access points and recalculate if you change a location.
Does the map include live traffic or waiting charges?
The route and arrival time are estimates without live traffic. Planned stop minutes help with timing but do not create a free waiting allowance. Staff confirm access, availability and the final arrangement.
