A useful taxi plan starts with the places where passengers can actually meet the vehicle. A town name, airport marker or building centre helps you find the area, but it may not identify the right entrance. This guide explains how to use the Ash Cabs map for a local Fife journey, an airport transfer or a trip with several pickups.
Fife is our main service area, with Ash Cabs based in Dunfermline. You can request journeys across the county and onward Scottish destinations. The team confirms the vehicle, itinerary and availability after reviewing your request.
Choose the places, then check the exact points
Start with the Fife town selector, search for a mapped street or address, or choose a saved place. Airport choices provide another quick starting point. Check the town and street together: a familiar road name alone may describe more than one location.
Zoom in before accepting the selection. A mapped address or building may use an approximate centre, and the search is not a complete postal-address register. Move the pin if necessary and add the house number, entrance or meeting instruction in your notes. Selecting an airport marker does not establish the terminal's agreed taxi pickup position.
Put the pin where a vehicle can meet you
For a station, workplace, shopping area or larger property, identify the intended entrance rather than the middle of the site. Mention a public entrance, agreed car park or gate if it helps staff understand the pickup. Arrange permission for private access where needed; a road drawn on the map does not establish a right to drive or stop there.
The planner may show a connection between your selected point and the road used for routing. Read any access message carefully. A larger offset may need your acknowledgement, a revised point or staff help. That connection is not a driven section and is not added to fare mileage.
Add extra pickups and drop-offs in order
Enter every intermediate stop before requesting a fare. A journey collecting a friend, visiting a destination and returning home needs those places in the intended order. The planner follows your submitted order; it does not decide which passenger should be collected first.
The current planning limits allow up to five intermediate stops. Choose pickup, drop-off or waiting and set realistic minutes for each. The suggested three-minute pickup/drop-off and ten-minute waiting entries are editable planning defaults, not free waiting allowances. The form permits up to 120 minutes at one stop and 240 minutes in total, subject to the current policy.
Read the multiple-stop planning guide if the journey involves several households or an errand. Changing a stop can change both road distance and the vehicle's extra-stop allowance.
Read the road route and distance together
A straight line between two pins cannot describe a taxi journey around road connections, bridges and one-way streets. Where a complete route is available, the planner calculates a road journey through every selected location and displays the route and ordered legs. Reversing a trip can produce a different road route.
Miles and kilometres describe that same journey in different units. The fare calculation uses the road mileage before the displayed distance is rounded. The map's visible streets help you inspect the plan; they do not independently set the fare. The map also does not show live driver positions or establish that a taxi is nearby.
Check timing and price before sending
Choose the pickup date and time in UK local time. Driving time is a planning estimate without live traffic; planned stop minutes are added separately. Allow for your appointment or departure deadline and ask the team about any uncertainty. A suggested arrival is not an arrival guarantee.
Day/night pricing, a route leaving Fife, vehicle choice and extra stops can affect the estimate. A journey crossing a pricing boundary may need staff review. When a complete road route or applicable price is unavailable, request a staff quote instead of relying on an approximate distance.
Send a plan the team can confirm
Review the entrance notes, passenger and luggage numbers, stop order and requested time. Your submission produces a request reference; the journey is booked when the team confirms it. For a pickup within the next two hours, call 01383 333333.

Before you travel.
How do I check the route before requesting travel?
Confirm pickup first, add intermediate stops in travel order, then select the final destination. Check the road-access points and recalculate if you change a location.
Does the map include live traffic or waiting charges?
The route and arrival time are estimates without live traffic. Planned stop minutes help with timing but do not create a free waiting allowance. Staff confirm access, availability and the final arrangement.
