One charge applies per distinct matched airport. Two different airports can therefore contribute two different charges; the same airport repeated within the itinerary is counted once. Selected waiting is included separately in the estimate. Extra waiting, extended parking, tolls or special arrangements still need confirmation.
Outward and return, in one clear estimate
Choose Wait & return for a driver to wait at your destination and bring you back, or Return later for a separately scheduled collection. Review each direction and the combined estimate before requesting. The return goes from your final destination to your original pickup; additional outward stops are not repeated. Each airport charge is included once in the total.
The return includes 30 complimentary waiting minutes. Further selected waiting is charged at £15.00 per hour, split by the minute. The gap between separately scheduled journeys is not a waiting charge. Both legs remain subject to availability and team confirmation.
Compare the complete quote, not just a headline price
Use the same pickup entrance, destination, date and time when comparing prices. Include every passenger, bag and intermediate collection. A larger vehicle or an extra stop can change the estimate. Check the payment terms and what happens if the itinerary changes before agreeing a journey.
Why an estimate can become a range or need review
An uncertain address, road connection, luggage requirement or unconfirmed pricing policy can prevent an instant total. Some stop or vehicle allowances produce a range. Send the itinerary or call the team to agree the details rather than treating a partial result as a fixed price.
Advance notice, deposits and booking confirmation
4-seater — at least 2 hours ahead; 6-seater — at least 2 hours ahead; 8-seater — at least 4 hours ahead. Every request is subject to availability and confirmation by our team.
No initial deposit is required with the current pay-at-pickup option. Arrange payment at the start of the ride with the team. Sending a request does not confirm a vehicle. The 8-seater remains a representative-confirmed request without an initial deposit.
A request reference or pro forma PDF is not a dispatched car or confirmed vehicle. The PDF distinguishes the estimate, required deposit, money actually recorded and remaining balance.
Changed the route? Refresh the estimate
The estimate updates after changing an address, time, vehicle, waiting time or stop order. Review the latest amount before booking. Extra waiting entered in the planner and selected time at any additional pickup, drop-off or wait stop are charged at the hourly rate displayed, calculated by the minute. All additional stop types start at zero minutes, so there is no extra time charge unless you select a duration. If a booking has already been submitted, contact the team with its reference so the itinerary and agreed fare can be reviewed together.

Can I get an outward and return taxi estimate?
Yes. Choose Wait & return or Return later. The calculator routes and prices each direction separately and shows both leg estimates and the combined total. Each matched airport charge is included once. For the return, the first 30 waiting minutes are complimentary; further selected minutes are charged at £15.00 per hour, split by the minute. Time between separately scheduled journeys is not waiting. Outward additional stops are not repeated on the direct return. Both legs require availability and team confirmation.
Can I include my flight details?
For an airport journey, select Add flight details (optional). You can supply the flight number, departure and arrival places and arrival time in Scotland. These details help our team plan your collection. Contact us if your flight changes; entering details does not activate an automatic flight-tracking service.
Can I select pickup, drop-off and additional stops on a full-screen map?
Yes. Open any location field and choose location on map, or search a house number, street and postcode. Confirm the pin in the full-screen map. Use + Add stop beside the journey fields, choose its type and planned minutes, and the estimate updates automatically. The same planner works on a phone, tablet or desktop, and you can request the ride after reviewing the fare.

Only the duration you select is charged; add each period once. The team confirms any additional waiting.
Can I use this for a cab or private-hire quote?
Yes. This is the Ash Cabs taxi and cab journey estimator for travel with a driver, including local Dunfermline pickups and arranged Scottish journeys. It is not a self-drive car-rental calculator.
Are airport pickup and drop-off charges included?
Yes, when your journey includes a supported airport pickup or drop-off. The charge for each distinct airport is included in the total and shown in the breakdown. Repeating the same airport does not apply its charge twice.
Does the route show miles or kilometres?
Both. The calculated route displays distance in miles and kilometres. It follows the selected road itinerary rather than a straight-line distance. Driving times do not include live traffic.
Can I request a 4-, 6- or 8-seater?
Choose the vehicle and enter passengers and luggage. The planner displays the current advance-notice requirement. An 8-seater is a request for representative confirmation; a suggested amount is not a fixed or guaranteed fare.
What if my postcode or house number is not found?
Check the full address, add the postcode and confirm the pickup pin at the accessible entrance. Use the map if search cannot identify the exact property. Contact our team if the address or vehicle access remains uncertain.
How do I compare taxi prices fairly?
Compare the same route, pickup time, passenger count, luggage, vehicle and stops. Check included airport charges and any waiting, parking or toll arrangements. The lowest headline number may cover a different journey.
Can I book an urgent pickup through the calculator?
The planner enforces the advance notice shown for your vehicle. For a sooner journey, call 01383 333333 to ask about availability. An estimate or submitted request does not dispatch a vehicle.
